More about the talk, the speakers and the company

Kim Lien and Imac Zambrana will talk about the background, the science and the ambitions of Nordic Neurotech (NNT) a company that is developing tools to strengthen mental and physical health.

Kim started Nordic Neurotech without any background in health and technology, but with a burning commitment to make a difference. He is a visionary and thinks about the big picture, but at the same time is very concerned that the difference lies in the details. This has resulted in an 830 m2 technology hub and a 1000 m2 research lab for interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration.

The science lab is led by Imac Zambrana. Imac is Chief Scientific Officer at Nordic Neurotech and associate professor in special needs education at the University of Oslo. Her area of ??expertise is cognitive development, language and learning and she has been particularly interested in understanding how we use our cognitive and social-cognitive skills to learn from each other and our surroundings. By understanding basic mechanisms for learning, we will be able to understand what happens in very concrete situations. She is passionate about talent development and the importance of multidisciplinary collaborations and exchanges to find the best solutions for society and individuals.

Nordic Neurotech has developed the tool VRET Nordic in close collaboration with psychologists all over Norway. The tool enables psychologists to offer exposure therapy in virtual reality, tailored to each individual patient. Patients can practise exposure in controlled environments. This provides easy access to continual practise.

About the innovation hangouts

The Life Science Growth House will arrange quarterly afternoon/evening-innovation hangouts.

This is an informal meeting place where students and researchers from the University of Oslo (UiO) can interact with actors from the public sector, hospitals, companies, mentors, business clusters and incubators within UiO's innovation ecosystem. We will provide inspirational talks, talks from role models, matchmaking, food and beverages, and mingling.

The overall goal of the Life Science Growth House is to strengthen the innovation culture at UiO to put more knowledge from research to use. With this meeting place, we want to inspire researchers and students, give them self-confidence and knowledge about the innovation process, help them build networks, and facilitate collaboration between academia and industry.
