The UiO Growth House – UiO’s innovation unit for life sciences, health, and technology

NOK 1.5 million to innovative researchers from the UiO Growth House

Researchers who have been granted funding.

Congratulations to 16 research groups at the University of Oslo that have been granted seed funding from us! The projects cover a broad range of topics. Most of them are health related, but we have also supported projects within education, environment, cyber security and music. The researchers will use the funding to further develop their own innovation ideas with the aim to put the research to use. All who applied for seed funding, will now be offered follow-up from the UiO Growth House.

Inspirational talk: Astrid Kristoffersen, PhD, Research & Development Director DNV. She is responsible for research and development in DNV within energy, maritime, health, food and value chains, ocean space and digital assurance.

Role model talk: Vegard Vinje, PhD, consultant Expert Analytics an on-demand expertise consultancy in scientific and industrial data analytics and systems development ranging from cancer research to hydropower.

Matchmaking between researchers and students and representatives from companies that collaborate with our co-organiser dScience or are members of the health cluster Norway Health Tech or the health incubator Aleap among others DNV, Expert Analytics, Norwegian Computing Centre, SINTEF Digital and SynPlan. Additional companies will be announced.

With this meeting place we want to inspire, give self-confidence and knowledge about innovation processes and facilitate collaboration that puts more research to use for the benefit of patients and society.

In collaboration with SINTEF and Oslo Science Park, the UiO Growth House invites you to a breakfast seminar on sensors in future healthcare. Meet researchers from the University of Oslo, Oslo University Hospital and SINTEF as well as start-ups from the health incubator Aleap that are developing new sensor solutions for future healthcare.

The innovation conference Science Impact 2023 Science Impact 2023 – tomorrow's solutions start today is as part of Oslo Innovation Week.

Future challenges within health and environment require innovative solutions with digital tools as an integral part. We zoom in on the human body and dive into energy production and storage to give you cutting-edge research and development from the University of Oslo, Oslo University Hospital, SINTEF, start-ups from the innovation ecosystem in Oslo and companies. 

Bootcamp for innovation projects

From bootcamp

The UiO Growth House is partner when the health incubator Aleap in Oslo Science Park now runs a pilot for its boot camp for innovation projects and start-ups. Several projects in the UiO Growth House portfolio are attending the boot camp. Through three gatherings they learn more about the path from idea to market.

Innovation adviser in the UiO Growth House, Beate Rygg Johnsen, gave the participants an introduction to Design Thinking on the first day 12 April.

The idea prize 2023

Do you have an idea that can be turned into a commercial product or service? Then you can take part in the competition to win Inven2's idea prize for 2023. The main prize of NOK 250,000 will go towards developing the idea. The deadline for submitting a contribution is 5 May.
