UiO:Life Science welcomes new PhDs and Postdocs

In autumn 2021, six new convergence environments were granted funding for a period of four years. The interdisciplinary research groups have started up during 2022 and are well underway with the recruitment of PhDs and Postdoctoral fellows for their research projects.

UiO:Life Science contributes with a total of 24 PhD and postdoctoral positions, as well as operating funds for the newly established convergence environments. The positions are linked to various host units at the University of Oslo's faculties, and the newly appointed researchers will have their daily work there.

- It is a major task that the newly appointed researchers have been assigned to solve. Working in an interdisciplinary research collaboration can be demanding, at the same time they get a unique experience of working interdisciplinary that not many researchers have, was one of the things the director of UiO:Life Science, Carl Henrik G?rbitz, had invited the newly recruited researchers to talk about.

The creation of first-generation convergence environments in 2017 signaled a completely new initiative to interdisciplinary collaboration  at the University of Oslo, with the aim of solving major societal challenges in health, environment and sustainability.
