Young talents – career opportunities beyond academia

At this seminar PhD-students, postdocs and Master?s students at UiO and NMBU had the opportunity to create networks outside academia. The response for the event was overwhelming and it was fully booked in a short time.

For PhD students, postdocs and Master?s students at UiO and NMBU

The seminar consisted of three parts:

  • 01:00 PM – 02:30: A short introduction from people working outside of academia, inspirational talks, how they are working and how they got there – see list of speakers below
  • 03:00 PM– 04:30 PM: A speed networking event where students have the opportunity to sit down and talk to companies
  • 04:30 PM – 05:30 PM: A social event with refreshments where students and companies can mingle

The seminar has been developed in close collaboration with the PhD organizations at UiO and NMBU, UiODoc and SoDoc, as well as the student representative in the UiO:Life Science board.

Sand? is known as the host of the NRK science programme Newton. He is also an entrepreneur and Master student at NTNU.

Finding Your Fit: Building a Career Beyond Academia

Nelsen is the founder of Nelsen Biomedical. She has extensive experience in moving technology from concept to commercialization, developing business models, implementing business plans, and creating strategic partnerships and market expansion activities. The firm also provide advisory services and domain expertise pro bono to incubators, government agencies and start-up organizations.

Niels Thun Andersen, Business Development Manager, Copenhagen Capacity

He is and expert on Life Sciences, pharma, biotech and medtech. He will present the large Medicon Valley Allicance which Copenhagen Capacity is a part of.

Merete Sandager, Senior Talent Attraction Manager, Copenhagen Capacity

She will talk about the opportunities that they can offer also for Norwegian PhD students, postdocs and Master?s students

Georg Gi?ver Beiske, Development Manager Radiopharmaceuticals, Bayer.

He is a pharmacist from UiO and will share his experience from a global pharmaceutical company.

Hanne Haslene-Hox, Research scientist, SINTEF

She will share her experience as project leader in the institute sector.

Dr Johan Bi?rnstad, Chief Operating Officer at NABAS.

Bi?rnstad will share his experience from working in this small company.

NABAS is a biotechnology company that produces and isolates polyclonal chicken antibodies (IgY) from the egg yolk of hyperimmune chicken eggs. The product can be used in a range of commercial in vitro diagnostic tests such as pregnancy tests and kidney tests. NABAS is a small company with five employees.

Theodor Remman, CEO Boneprox

Boneprox has developed at simple test for osteoporosis. They won the DNB Healthcare Prize 2017. How is it the life of an entrepreneur?

03:00 PM– 04:30 PM: A speed networking event where students have the opportunity to sit down and talk to companies
