Connecting-the-Arctic: Arctic coasts and seas under global change: connecting knowledge for sustainable development. Insights from ecology, evolution, sociology, anthropology, economics and political science.
Abstract: What is shaping ecosystems biodiversity and adaptive capacity in an era of climate change and demand for economic expansion? How do the marine resources adapt to climate change and exploitation, and what are the implications for society, management? I will go through some of our work on the ecological and evolutionary effects of harvesting, and how we can use insights from social science to derive better models describing the social-ecological dynamic and institutional resilience. Large part of this work is organized by interdisciplinary science, cross-scale science, and inclusive science through dialogue with the resource users and stakeholders.
