Bulgarian visit

This week LINK met with two researchers from Bulgaria at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights at University of Oslo to discuss teaching and learning in higher education and the particularities of LINK as Centre for Learning, Innovation & Academic Development at the University of Oslo.

Zdravka Krasteva and Petya Adzhopova from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski visited Norwegian Centre for Human Rights at University of Oslo.

Zdravka Krasteva is an associate professor at the Faculty of Law of Sofia University. She teaches criminal procedure and forensics, as well as human rights standards in pre-trial investigation. Petya Adzhopova is a Ph.D. candidate in a doctoral program devoted to human rights protection at Sofia University. She is also coaching the university's team for the moot court competition, devoted to the European Convention on Human Rights - Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition.

The context of the visit is The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights working with the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice to build the capacity of Bulgarian universities in human rights legal education.

The project's overall aim is to improve the Bulgarian judiciary's application of the European Human Rights framework. In achieving this aim, the NCHR will work with the "Procedural Representation of Republic of Bulgaria before the European Court of Human Rights" Directorate at the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice and the New Bulgarian University to strengthen university education in international and regional human rights law.

The centre had prepared for a meeting amongst others with LINK to introduce the guests both to LINK in general and pedagogical teaching methods in particular. The director of LINK, professor Nicoline Fr?lich and professor Helge Str?ms? meet at the Faculty of Law with associate professor Zdravka Krasteva, Petya Adzhopova and professor Gentian Zyberi and Sunniva Eik Fredstad from The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights.
