We will read a selection from Ovid’s Metamorphoses (using J. C. Tarrant’s Oxford Classical Texts edition). The selection will be discussed with the students at the start of the semester but will in any case include the most important stories (Apollo and Daphne, Diana and Actaeon, Narcissus and Echo, Daedalus and Icarus, Orpheus and Eurydice, Ganymede, Pygmalion, Venus and Adonis, etc.). Additional materials (including commentaries and relevant scholarship) may be uploaded in Canvas.
