Plans for week 46

Dear all, this week and the next week are our two last weeks this semester and we will discuss decision trees, random forests and ensemble methods like Boosting and Bagging.  Our plans are as follows

• Thursday: Basics of decision trees, classification and regression algorithms and ensemble models like random forests and Bagging

  • Decision Trees: Geron's chapter 6 covers decision trees while ensemble models, voting and bagging are discussed in chapter 7. See also lecture from STK-IN4300, lecture 7. Chapter 9.2 of Hastie et al contains also a good discussion.

The last weekly exercise is for week 47 and is simply a course evaluation and feedback! This week we focus only on finalizing project 2 and start discussing project 3.
