Hi all,

You can find the plan for the exam here:
https://github.uio.no/IN3130/h23/blob/main/exam-information.md

We have changes from the original process, such that you instead have been assigned an expected date and time. However, the table also gives a "Be ready" time at which you must be ready to take the exam. Generally, an hour before.

Looking forward to seeing you. :)

Dear all,

We are getting closer to the exam date.

If you have other exam restriction that hinders you in having your exam either of the two days (Dec 11 or Dec 12) you can use the following Nettsjema to indicate this:

https://nettskjema.no/a/379199/

Deadline is Sunday next week.

I will try to accommodate these requests as much as possible, but cannot give any guarantees, as we will have to use both days.

Mathias have added Python support to assignment 1 and 2. The assignment text was made for the java version so you might find small differences between the python code and the text. Java is the recommended language, but you may choose to do it in python.

Please make sure to read the updated information section.

We will start using the UiO Github for much of the course information. You can find it on this repository.

https://github.uio.no/IN3130/h23

I recommend cloning continuously cloning it using either the Github desktop tool or git CLI.

Hi all,

I enjoyed the first lecture yesterday. I hope that you also learned something and that we'll meet again next week.

After the lecture, I got a question about the exam, which answer that I would like to share with all.

At the exam we expect that there will be about 10 to 12 questions, from which you will randomly get one. These questions will cover most of the content of the course. In practice, most questions will cover a larger or smaller part of a lecture.

That means that you can already now start to prepare now. Makre review notes after each lecture. Note the most important topics that was covered. Consider what you would tell about those topics if you have about 20 minutes.

Our UiO/Astro Discourse forum is ready.

https://astro-discourse.uio.no/c/in3130-23h

You don't have automatically access, so you need to go there, create an account, and request access. After creating the account, it can tage between 10 minutes and an hour for it to work.

There is a manual here:

The purpose of this course is to give you an understanding of some of the hardest problems that we know about in computer science (even what we cannot solve) and get a feeling for how we can reasonable try to solve some versions of them. Throughout the course you will work both with some formal computer models (though we will not be too formal) and practical implementation of relevant algorithms.

The course will have weekly lectures and exercises. The lectures will mainly be held by me (Michael Kirkedal Thomsen) and Petter Kristensen (external lecture from FFI), but there will also be some guest lectures through the course. You will be in good hands with Mathias Storvik as TA of the exercises.

We will have an online forum, though I do not know the link for this yet. That will be posted later.

There will be three Assignments (Obliger) during the semester. These must be passed to quality for the exam.

The exam will be an oral test...
