General procedures for in-class instruction at the Faculty of Medicine (MED)

You must familiarise yourself with and follow the infection control rules applicable to in-class instruction at MED. The rules also apply to self-organised activities such as study groups.

Procedures for in-class instruction that comply with the 1-metre rule 

  • Maintain a distance of 1 metre to others – no handshaking or hugging
  • Stay with your assigned group, avoid unnecessary contact with others
  • You must complete the self-screening protocol before participating in in-person classes  
    • See the form for your own use to see the different symptoms you must check off  
    • Stay home if you have symptoms of Covid-19.
    • Test yourself and follow guidelines for when you can return to the classroom
  • You must wash or disinfect your hands before and after all instructional activities. Avoid the use of jewellery and rings
  • You must clean surfaces and equipment yourself in the classroom or lecture hall that you have used. Do not touch things unnecessarily
  • If you need to cough or sneeze, use a paper tissue or the crook of your elbow

Procedures for instructional activities that depart from the 1-metre rule

  • You must complete the self-screening protocol before participating in in-person classes  
    • See the form for your own use to see the different symptoms you need to check off  
    • Stay home if you have symptoms of Covid-19.
    • Test yourself and follow guidelines for when you can return to the classroom
  • You must wash or disinfect your hands before, during and after all instructional activities. Do not wear jewellery or rings
  • Stay with your regular small groups (1-3 persons) so that you have close contact with as few others as possible
  • Do not cough or sneeze while in close contact with others
  • Use the recommended infection control equipment for the specific classroom activity (masks, gloves, gowns, etc.)
  • Reusable equipment, such as stethoscopes, microscopes and ultrasound equipment, must be cleaned and disinfected before and after use
  • You must clean surfaces and equipment yourself in the classroom or lecture hall that you have used.
  • Also remember to clean personal equipment that comes into contact with others – stethoscopes, pens etc.
