Time and space resolved investigations of catalyst bodies

Heterogeneous catalysis is a key enabling technology for the green transition. Industrial catalysts are always shaped into millimeter-sized catalyst objects.

The key objective is to achieve a description of how various chemical phenomena occur within these shaped objects, resolved both in time and space. This requires utilization of national and international research infrastructures and very advanced diffraction and spectroscopic methods for 4D imaging and tomography. We also use quantum chemical methods, diffusion and kinetic multiscale models.
