Do you need someone to talk with?

We meet students from all kind of religious backgrounds and none believers. We meet students that are about to come out as homosexuals or bi-sexual, transsexual or queer. We meet those with a Christian faith or seekers that would like to talk about life and belief. We also meet those who struggle with problematic peers and professors, and those that has a need to talk about their studies, the pressure, the deadlines, questions about being good enough etc.

No topic is too big or too small!

Chapel, Mosalla, Room for Faith and Thoughts and Quiet Rooms

The students represent a great diversity, also when it comes to beliefs and philosophy of life. We believe this is an asset. In order to accommodate this diversity, we provide spaces open for all for devotion and prayers.

Frederikke Chapel, Mosalla and Room for Faith and Thought (UiO)

At Frederikke, there is a chapel, a Mosalla and a Room for Faith and Thought. The rooms are open every day, and you are welcome to light a candle, pray or just enjoy some peace and quiet.

If you want to use the chapel for organized activities, please contact the chaplaincy at UiO.

The Chapel at The Faculty of Theology (UiO)

The Faculty of Theology has a chapel in the basement that is always open for use. There are scheduled services and hours of prayer every week. The services and hours are normally held in Norwegian. For more information, visit this page.

Grief Support Groups

The Chaplaincy also offers grief support groups. Students in grief often express that it is difficult for their friends to understand what grief is, and therefor they often feel lonely. Grief is not an illness, but a natural and healthy reaction in a person who has lost someone close. At the grief support groups, you can share experiences related to loss, memories, thoughts and emotions.
The English speaking group is led by the university humanist Birgitte Fredriksen and the university chaplain Anne Anita Lilleb?.

If the worst thing happens …

The University Chaplaincy is part of the preparedness group called “When a Student Dies”. This group work to accommodate the different needs that will occur in the event of a student’s death. Fellow students and friends might want to gather to share memories, light candles or talk about what happened. Parents might want to visit the university and teachers or professors might need support when seeing the class the first time after a student’s death.

If you have questions related to emergencies, you are welcome to contact the Chaplaincy.
