The concert will form the final part of a longer recording session, during which we will collect body motion, gaze, pupillometry, and heart rate data under rehearsal and concert conditions. A few different research questions will be addressed, including how physiological coordination differs between rehearsal and concert conditions, and how string musicians make use of different types of visual information when playing together.
We are also hoping to collect live performance ratings and heart rate data from some keen audience members. Please indicate via the link if you would like to serve as an audience participant!

The Borealis String Quartet
The Borealis String Quartet.
The quartet was established in 2019 as part of the chamber music course at the Norwegian Academy of Music with professor Are Sandbakken as a teacher. During the fall 2019 semester, they participated in masterclasses with members from the Vision, Skampa, St. Lawrence quartets, participation in the final rounds of Ungdommens musikkmesterskap, and participation in research projects at RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time and Motion at the University of Oslo. The 20/21 season has so far been focused on masterclasses with professor Tim Fredriksen during Voksen?sen sommerakademi and masterclasses with the Vertavo quartet through Oslo Kvartettserie. The Borealis String Quartet will also contribute to the final season concert of Oslo Kvartettserie on 16 April 2021.
