A solution to today's exam can be found on the exam pages on the course web page.

Thank you all for this semester, and hope that you have a nice summer!

On the course webpage for MAT3100 you find only exams from 2018-2021. If you want to look at exams longer back in time (when the code of the course was different), you can look here (which is a subfolder with older exams).

This is just a reminder that the deadline for the second compulsory exercise is Thursday 12/5  (tomorrow) at 1430.

I have published some foils of today's lecture in the schedule (it may be easier to follow today's lecture if you take a look on them in advance), as well as updated last Friday's foils with notes from yesterday. I will also elaborate a bit further on exercise 14.4 today before I go on with rest of chapter 14/15.

The second compulsory exercises has now been published. Deadline 12th of may.

On Thursday I will go through the solution to the first compulsory exercise. This is perhaps most interesting for those of you who got some comments from me in the delivery, or where parts were missing. I will try to point out and repeat some of the details when applying the simplex and dual simplex method, so you can also use this lecture to repeat that material.

On Friday I will start on network flow theory. This will take two weeks, and is the last part of the syllabus. After that I will concentrate on exams.

The second compulsory exercise will be published next week.

Two of the exercises for today's exercise session are a bit technical, so I have put out a pdf with solutions for these already in the schedule, and will follow this in today' session. I will probably need only one hour today.

There will be no group next week (the easter week). Also, the group 19. April will be digital only (use the same zoom link as for the lectures).

I have already published a pdf for this thursday's exercises, and will use this when I go through the exercises from chap. 11. I will probably need only one hour for the exercises on thursday.

The deadline for the first compulsory exercise is this Thursday at 1430. Note the new policy that you are only given one attempt - if your delivery is insufficient, you will not be given a second attempt!

Johan is back in the teaching room on Tuesday, so this week's group will be physical only.

I will use tomorrow's lecture for the rest of the theory from chapter 5, and Friday I will go through the rest of the exercises from chapter 5. So, lectures and exercises are swapped this week.

Johan is sick with covid, but can still have the group tomorrow - although digital only.

So, the group tomorrow is digital only - with same link as to the lectures.

Johan don't think zoom on the groups Tuesdays work that well (few on zoom, and confusion between answering on the iPad and people present physically at the same time). Therefore, the groups will be physical only from now on. My lectures will continue on zoom, in addition to in the auditorium.

I will be lecturing in the auditorium again today, as VB is open again.

Tomorrow's lecture will be on chapter 4. To get the exercises in the course closer in time to the lecture with the needed theory, I will use both lectures next week to go through exercises (see the schedule).

I suggest that you focus mostly on the exercises I list in the schedule, ALSO on Tuesday's group. It was not my intention that you should do more exercises that the ones I give there - solving those is already much, as many exercises require a lot of calculations.

VB will be closed for the rest of this week also, so the lectures this week will be digital only again (most rooms in NHA were also booked, so I did not find a suitable replacement).

I will probably need just one hour for the exercise session on Thursday this week.

Note also that you can join all groups in the coming weeks by zoom. Johan will most likely be back in the teaching room again on Monday.

It turns out that Johan has been in contact whit someone who has tested positive, so we will make tomorrow's group digital only after all, to be on the safe side.

Tomorrow's group will be both digital and physical, with the same zoomlink as for the lectures. You may have to wait some time on zoom, since Johan may attend to other questions from the room.

Due to the fire in the toilet in VB, that building will be closed from 1430 today, and stay closed until next week. This means that today's and tomorrow's lectures will be digital only.

Some of you asked me about a zoomlink to the group today 0815-1000. Today this group was physically only and not on zoom. My plan was to use the group tuesdays for one-one questions to the teacher, and not for solving the exercises in its entirety on the blackboard - this is something I will do every thursday anyway.

You don't have to be in the group at 0815 - you can come by and ask questions any time before 1000. If still many of you would like a possibility for zoom on the groups tuesdays, please send me an email. If many of you do so, we will set up zoom for the groups on tuesdays as well. We will then see how the one-one format works when people are both on zoom and in the auditorium.

If we use zoom for next week's group, I will announce it here, and we will use the same zoomlink as for the lectures.

I will broadcast the lectures on zoom, starting tomorrow, from the auditorium. This means that you can choose whether to follow the lectures on zoom, or meet up in the auditorium. There is a limit of 30 participants in the auditorium. So, if some of you participate digitally only, there should be room for the rest you in the auditorium  (since more than 30 who have said they will take the course).

The zoomlink for the lectures can be found on the course webpage here.

I have updated the schedule of the course with curriculum and exercises for the first weeks of the course. I have also added some resources on the course webpage, including some source code, and a zoomlink to the lectures and groups. We plan to broadcast all lectures on zoom, regardless of whether we can use the auditorium at the university or not. The last I heard was that the first two weeks of the course will be digital on zoom only, but stay tuned to find out if yesterday's new rules mean that we can use the auditorium already from the start of the course.

I recommend that all of you use the group on tuesdays to attempt the exercises (first time 25. january). I will go through the same exercises in plenary two days after.

Welcome to MAT3100! The first lecture will be on 20th of January, and we will be in aud. 4 VB (see the calendar). The four hours per week of lectures will be used for both exercises and going through the syllabus. In addition there is a group on tuesdays (in NHA1020), where you can get help in solving the exercises. Hopefully there will be no restrictions on meeting up for the lectures, but due to the ongoing corona pandemic all lectures will also be broadcast on zoom.

The syllabus has been updated (we use leganto). In addition, the lecture notes are also part of the syllabus, and will be made available continuously.

We will use the fifth edition of Vanderbei's book. I believe it will cause no problem if you already have the fourth edition.
