Welcome as new students at the Department of Biosciences

The start of the semester for new master's students is week 33. On this page you will find an overview of everything you need to know and do before the start of studies and a program for the first week.

Welcome week

 

The mandatory information meeting

We want to welcome you to our department, and you will receive important information about your program. The meeting will be held on August 15th at 10:00 in Auditorium 3 in Kristine Bonnevie's house.

Where science begins

On August 16th at 10:00, Auditorium 2 you are invited by the Science Library to learn about academic integrity, scientific communication, and research support.

Meet the IBV researchers

On August 18th at 13:00, Auditorium 3 you are invited to meet our researchers. This event will serve as a valuable opportunity for you to gain insight into the diverse research sections within our Department. Pizza will be served!

We are located in Kristine Bonnevies hus at Blindern campus. Read about how you can get here by public transport

The list is continuously updated and provides information about ongoing projects and what our various research groups are working on.

Courses

We look forward to greeting you on August th. Please note that the deadline for registration for courses is Thursday 17th of August. Therefore, it is important that you review recommended courses in advance. You can find more information regarding this on your programme's pages.

You sign up for courses in Studentweb through the "active courses" tab or through your individual "study plan". 

We advise you to wait for the actual registration until you have attended the welcome meeting on Wednesday. But make sure you familiarize yourself with your options.

Students who received a conditional offer and have met the conditions will be granted study rights and can sign up for courses before the deadline.

Important deadlines

August 15: Welcome meeting starts at 10 am

August 17: Deadline registering courses

September 1

  • Deadline register as a student and pay the semester fee
  • Absolute deadline registering courses
  • Deadline for applying for special examination arrangements

December 1: Deadline for your study plan agreement
