UiO sends mail to digital mailbox

UiO prefers sending you mail via a digital mailbox rather than by ordinary post. A digital mailbox is good for the environment and provides you with easy access to official mail.

Fast and more easily accessible

If you choose a digital mailbox solution, you will receive your letters from UiO sooner, and you can read them wherever you are.

All in one place

A digital mailbox is a secure solution to receive and store important mail digitally, such as letters containing official decisions, health information, or other sensitive information.

Safe solution

Public agencies can't use regular e-mail to send sensitive information because it is not safe enough. A digital mailbox is safe, and you can store your mail as long as you want.

What do you need?

To create a digital mailbox account, you need the following:

  1. A Norwegian personal identity number or a D-number
  2. A user profile in ID-porten (difi.no)
  3. An electronic ID such as BankID to log in to ID-porten. Your Norwegian bank will provide you with a BankID (difi.no).

Because of these requirements, not everyone can set up a digital mailbox. For example, you cannot have one if you have never lived in Norway. If you do not have a digital mailbox, you will receive your mail from UiO by regular post.

Opt for a digital mailbox

Once you have set up a digital mailbox, you will no longer receive letters from us by ordinary post. Both the set-up and use of a digital mailbox is free of charge.
