Get an access card (student/employee)
- UiO's student and employee cards are produced by SiO Customer Centre. They are located in Kristian Ottosens hus at Blindern. Students must book an appointment through SiO's website (sio.no) and bring valid ID. The ID photo is taken during the appointment.
- Employee cards are usually made on the first day of employment. Meet in person at SiO Customer Service Centre and pull a waiting ticket from the register machine.
- Questions about the student cards may be directed to SiO (sio.no).
How does the access card work?
- Your student or employee works as an access card and gives you access to the university's buildings outside of regular opening hours.
- See overview of opening hours in all buildings.
- If you have forgotten your PIN code, you must contact SiO Customer Centre (sio.no)
Extended opening hours during exams
During the exam period, more study areas will be open for bachelor students on Sundays. The following periods are counted as exam period:
- November 20 to January 20
- May 1 to June 20
It is the responsibility of faculties and institutes to arrange for extended opening hours.
Holidays
- In July, most of the university’s buildings are only open for students and employees with card and code.
- See notices on entrance doors in case of exceptions.
- During Christmas and Easter, other opening hours apply. Notices will be placed on all entrance doors.
- New Year’s Day, Easter, Ascension Day, Pentecost and Christmas are considered public holidays.
