In the shadows of war: Moldova and what's at stake for European security

Moldova’s president Maia Sandu is visiting Norway at the invitation of His Majesty King Harald and Her Majesty Queen Sonja. The State Visit underlines the solidarity and support of Norway to Moldova. As part of the visit President Sandu will give a talk at the University of Oslo. 

President Sandu will speak about Moldova's determination to stay part of the free world and join the European Union, Russia's hybrid influence campaigns to bring the country back into its orbit and the impact of full-scale invasion of the neighbouring Ukraine. 

After the President’s introduction, the audience is invited to ask questions and engage in a discussion.

Program

The doors open at 1 P.M. Due to royal attendance, attending audience must arrive before the doors close at 2 P.M. The program starts at 2:15 P.M.

  • Welcome by ?se Gornitzka, Pro-Rector of the University of Oslo
  • Introduction by President of Moldova Maia Sandu 
  • Discussion and Q & A session moderated by Geir Flikke, Professor in Russian Studies at the University of Oslo

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit will also be attending the event.

The event will be in English.

Practical information

The event is full. 

Please bring a valid ID. Large bags and backpacks are not allowed at the event but can be checked in at the Library counter. Handbags are allowed but will be checked by security staff on entry.

The event will be live streamed and recorded. The stream will start when the event begins.
