The University of Oslo is about to develop its language policy, and we would like to discuss several aspects of this policy. Today foreign scientific staff are required to learn Norwegian within two years. Is this too strict? Is it too much to demand from scientists publishing in English and aiming for international research excellence? Or is it simply fair to ensure Norwegian in research and teaching?
