Foreign researchers can get access

The government has also included scientists in the application-based arrangement for entry into the country.

The government signaled 13th of April 2021 that foreign scientists might be able to apply for entry to Norway through their employer. The arrangement itself entails an exemption from current entry restrictions, which can only be granted to specified groups of foreign workers/contractors. Postponed applications

Municipalities with strengthened infection control measures will have their applications postponed. Oslo Municipality is currently a municipality with strengthened infection control measures, and UiO is awaiting feedback from the municipality on whether the municipality considers exemptions from entry restrictions to be relevant for scientists.Faculties and units should prepare the application process and more information will come.

- This is very important. Research does not take place in national isolation, but in a global community of knowledge. The internationally leading research community depend on the best young researchers and the competition for these talents is great. Today, several hundred international talents are waiting "at the border" to Norway, says Rector Svein St?len at the University of Oslo.
