Welcome to us! We hope that you'll quickly find yourself comfortable and that this will turn out to be a great workplace for you. Here is an overview of what awaits you during the first days and weeks in your new position as well as some information about the most important practical issues.

Introduction

During the initial phase, you will be well looked after by the manager or a person the manager has designated. The introduction program looks generally like this:

First day

  • Introduction to your personal workplace
  • Presentation of colleagues and tour of the premises
  • Access to IT systems, including e-mail account
  • Handing out of employee ID card and keys

First few weeks

Information

  • There is a lot of new and important information for those who are newly hired. We suggest you start with New at UiO.
  • UiO's website reflects the basic organizational division into three levels: the University's central administration, the faculty level and the departmental level.
  • The web information is organized according to topics and target groups.
  • By clicking the "For employees" link located at the top of every page, you can easily access your personal start page and information geared specifically toward employees. We recommend you tailor your personal start page to best meet your specific needs.

Working time

  • Technical and administrative employees: 08:00 – 15:45 (08:00 – 15:00 in the period 15 May – 14 September), with core hours 09.00 – 14.30 throughout the year.
  • Academic employees have the same hours throughout the year, and the luncheon of 30 minutes is paid and must be added to the 37.5 hours a week.

Procurement and travel

Each department has its own purchasing officer responsible for procurements. Contact the purchasing officer at your department for all procurements with the exception of travel where you must follow the special rules for business travel.
