The University of Oslo (UiO) has dedicated NOK 5 million in 2023 for early phase support for innovation projects.
Who can apply?
Any UiO affiliated researcher (faculty, hospital, postdoctoral fellow, or PhD candidates) is welcome to apply.
For applicants who are employed at Oslo University Hospital (OUS) or Akerhus University Hospital (Ahus), a project team member employed at UiO must be named in the application. All funding will be transferred via the UiO department of this project member.
What are the options for funding?
There are two categories of funding available: Funding of the idea and concept phase and funding for the test and further development phase.
Funding of idea and concept phase
Funding up to NOK 50 000. A total of up to 20 projects will be granted.
The funding can be used for:
- Purchase of expertise from third parties
- Materials and equipment
- Salaries for necessary sub-projects

Funding up to NOK 400 000. A total of up to 10 projects will be granted.

Application process
- Download the relevant Word template for project description and fill out. Some of the points may not apply to your project; you may leave those open.
- Fill out the online application form and and submit your application by 31 August. You upload your project description as a PDF document in the form.
- A review panel will evaluate the applications and the results will be announced at the end of October 2023.
Please note: Although the templates and applications forms are in English, you may fill them out in Norwegian if you wish.
