Dear all staff and students,

This weekend marks the first Sunday of Advent, and we are all working hard to complete and summarize all the great work done at the Faculty of Medicine in 2023.

Now, the faculty also has a draft plan for the coming years, which will be presented at our faculty board meeting in December. There are also several working groups working on proposals for actions and plans within specific themes. For example, we are looking forward to working on the action plan recently received from MED's Committee on Equality and Diversity.

This week, we received the election results for the representative for temporary academic positions to the faculty board. We thank Hedda Eik for her good work on our board and welcome Markus Dines Knudsen as a permanent member. We also welcome Lise M?rkved Helsingen and Lene Lunde as substitute representatives.

Open meeting for staff and students

We are well underway with planning events in 2024, and I would like to invite all of you to an open meeting, where we hope many of our staff and students will participate. Save the date for Wednesday, January 17th from 15:00 to 17:00 at Domus Bibliotheca in the university building in the city center. The event will be conducted in Norwegian.

Gunnar Bovim, who led the work on the Health Personnel Commission's report, will give an introduction for a debate on "what about research and education in healthcare - when we run out of people"? Former editor of Dagens Medisin, Markus Moe, who now works in communications at Oslo University Hospital, will then lead the debate on the topic, with representatives from various parts of the Faculty of Medicine participating. Save the time and sign up!

I now wish you all a joyful pre-Christmas time! Maybe we will see each other at the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Universitetsplassen (event page in Norwegian) on Sunday?

Best regards,

Hanne

King's Medal of Merit for Johanne Sundby

Numerous events take place here at the Faculty of Medicine, including important scientific meetings and other gatherings. Last week, for example, there was a great celebration when Professor Emeritus Johanne Sundby was honored with the King's Medal of Merit for her significant contributions to women's health both nationally and internationally. Congratulations!
