EU funded research at UiO

UiO has participated in the EU's framework programmes for research and development since 1991, and UiO has been particularly successful within the thematically free areas ERC and Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Actions.

Horizon Europe is is the most important competitive venue for the UiO’s international cooperation, as well as to our part in the global research system for developing excellent science and solving global challenges.

The University of Oslo have ambitious expectations for our participation in the European Commission's ninth Framework Programme, Horizon Europe. We aim to contribute to the development of knowledge and new solutions for a sustainable world by participating at the frontier of international research and contribute to solving major global challenges. 

Action plan

UiO's action plan for Horizon Europe defines several priority areas and encourages all levels at the University of Oslo to get involved and participate actively in the opportunities afforded by Horizon Europe.

ERC

ERC is part of the Excellent Science pillar in Horizon Europe and funds excellent scientific projects that can lead to scientific and technological discoveries.

Horizon 2020

UiO achieved excellent results in the EU’s Horizon 2020 (2014-2020) with a formidable strengthening of its EU portfolio and engagement. At the end of H2020, we ended up with 250 EU projects, double the number of ERC projects and also doubled EU funding compared to the previous framework programme.
