Botanical Garden
Assessment of stormwater pipes
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be assessing, filming, and cleaning the stormwater pipes in the Botanical Garden at T?yen. The work will take place outdoors.
When is it happening?

Consequences
- Asphalt roads may be temporarily closed for through traffic. We will strive to minimize any disruptions to access in and out of the area.
- Necessary health and safety measures will be taken, such as by cordoning off the areas.
- 1–2 vehicles will be parked on the paved pathways in the Botanical Garden.
- The vehicles will have their engines running to power the necessary equipment.
- Minimal dust.
- There may be some odour during the reopening and flushing process, although it is unlikely.

Chateau Neuf
Temporary facade safety net

What's happening?
The Estate Department has secured the facade of Chateau Neuf to prevent any potential loose parts from falling. We have installed a safety net by the main entrance and to the right of the main entrance. The facade will be permanently secured, but the date has not been set. We will send out a new notification when further work is resumed.

Domus Media
New offices for MUV
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be converting Aulakjelleren in the west wing of Domus Media into an assembly hall. The area behind Aulakjelleren will be converted into an office space with meeting rooms, quiet rooms, a library and a break room for The Museum of Univesity History (MUV).
As part of the renovations, we will be demolishing parts of the existing cafeteria area and kitchen, freezer room and cold storage. We will upgrade the technical installations such as ventilation, pipes, sprinklers and electricity according to the new layout.
When is it happening?

Consequences
- Construction noise from activites such as demolition, furniture dismantling, installation, plumbing work and laying floors.
- Particularly noisy work will be carried out between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and after 3 p.m. We will coordinate with the contractors to ensure it does not disrupt any planned events.
- Some dust.
- MUV's new office spaces will open in week 23.
- The assembly hall in the old cafeteria in Aulakjelleren will be completed in week 34 and open in week 35.

Domus Medica
Upgrade of dissection labs 1 and 2
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be upgrading dissection lab 1 and 2 in Domus Medica. We will improve surfaces and replace existing dissection tables with new tables equipped with air extraction. We will begin in Lab 2, with expected completion in December 2023. The work in Lab 1 will take place from January 2024 to July 2024.
When is it happening?

Consequences
- Periods of noise. The contractor will generally perform noise-generating work before 9 a.m., or between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Especially noisy work will be notified.
- Dust will be limited to the construction zone, which will be completely closed off.
- Equipment and furniture must be removed from Lab 2 before 10th July 2023.

Renovation on the 2nd floor
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be converting the office section of the northwestern wing on the second floor. Individual offices will largely be replaced with open office landscapes, while storage rooms, copy rooms, and changing rooms will be converted into spaces for small meetings, phone calls, and zoom meetings. The premises will receive new lighting and electrical systems. The ventilation system will be reused as much as possible and supplemented where necessary.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 8th January 2024
End date: Tuesday, 9th July 2024
Consequences
The area we will be working in will be divided into two zones. The work will start in one zone first. Employees will be temporarily relocated. Once the zone is completed, employees can move back. Temporary workspaces have already been planned.

- Normal construction noise.
- Noisy work will be conducted before 09:00 and after 15:00.
- There will be some dust.
- The contractors will clean and vacuum both the work area and the corridor.

Exterior maintenance of windows
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be will be sanding and varnishing some of the windows in Eilert Sundts hus A. The work will take place on the facade on the long side facing the entrance area and campus.
When is it happening?

- Scaffolding or a lift will be set up.
- Parts of the square will be cordoned off. Accessibility for wheelchair users is ensured.

Facade inspectation
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be inspecting the facade of Eilert Sundts hus A. We will install scaffolding at the back of the building, towards Niels Henrik Abels vei, and open up a section of the outer wall. This is being done to gather information about the construction of the facade.
When is it happening?

Renovation of bicycle shed
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be upgrading the bicycle shed located between Eilert Sundts hus, block A, and Niels Henrik Abels vei. We will replace the roof, wooden structures, and electrical installations. Additionally, the current bike racks will be replaced with new ones that better meet today's needs. After the renovation, the bicycle shed will appear almost the same as it does today and as it did when it was built in the 1960s.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 6th May 2024

Consequences
- We will close the bicycle shed with construction fencing on Monday, May 6. It will not be accessible during the renovation period.
- Bicycles that are located there on Monday, May 6, will be removed in accordance with current procedures.

Frederiks gate 3
Work on 1st floor windows

What's happening?
The Estate Department will be inspecting the windows in the cafeteria and toilets on the 1st floor of Frederiks gate 3. Some areas are missing internal windows, and the existing windows are not fully sealed. We will be checking the closing mechanisms and adding sealing strips where needed. We will also be installing internal windows where they are missing. The project is delayed due to an extended scope of work.

Adapting rooms for digital teaching and examinations
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be renovating rooms ?257 and ?358 in Fysikkbygningen and adapt them for digital teaching and examinations. We will be refurbishing the surfaces of the rooms, reconfiguring ventilation ducts and installing new vents. We will also upgrade the electrical and data points in the rooms.
When is it happening?

Refurbishment of Store fysiske lesesal
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be converting Store fysiske lesesal in Fysikkbygningen into a modern, flexible teaching space, with the capacity for group instruction for up to 100 people. The room is protected, and measures will be taken to restore the room into its original condition. We will refurbish the walls, ceilings and the electrical system, as well as establish about 20 new floor boxed to supply power to the tables. All lights will be upgraded to LED, with some of the fixtures requiring reconstruction to match the original design. To meet acoustic requirements, we will treat most walls and ceilings with acoustic plaster. Acoustic absorbers will also be placed in the bookshelves around the gallery.

What's happening?
The Estate Department will be replacing the awnings on parts of Fysikkbygningen's facade, This time primarily on the back, towards T?rteberg.

Halvor Blinderens plass
Closed parking spaces
What's happening?
The Agency for Water and Wastewater Services needs to repair and change a cracked water pipe at Nedre Blindern and urgently closed off 20 off the 50 parking spaces at Halvor Blinderns plass late Wednesday, 3rd April.

Garage cleaning
What's happening?
On Saturday, 27th April and Sunday, 28th April, Statsbygg will be cleaning the garage under Harald Schjelderups hus. Cars and bikes must be removed before the weekend.

Work on windows
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be replacing the seals between the window and window frame on all windows in Harriet Holters hus. The work will be carried out from the inside of the building. Each room will take between half a day and a whole day to fix.
When is it happening?

- There will be minimal to no noise.
- There will be minimal to no dust.
- The users will be informed by the Faculty's contact person with the Estate department when it is their office's turn.

Work on culvert
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be working on the underground culvert located at the front and back of Harriet Holters hus. We are doing this due to salt deposits on the interior basement walls of the building. This project involves minor excavation work, as well as sheet metal work.
When is it happening?

Consequences
- Some noise due to excavation and sheet metal work.
- Noise when we drill into the wall.
- Parts of the walkway will be fenced off. The walkway will still be accessible to wheelchair users.

Historical Museum
Exterior and interior inspections of the building
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be carrying out exterior and interior inspections of building components at the Historical Museum, including windows. During the inspections, we will be using both a drone and an aerial lift. The city centre is a no-fly zone, and the drone operator has obtained the necessary permits.
When is it happening?
- Exterior inspection with drone: Monday, 8th April 2024.
- Exterior inspection with lift: from Monday, 15th April to Tuesday, 30th April 2024.
- Interior inspection: from Monday, 29th April to Friday, 24th May 2024.
Consequences
- During the interior inspection, we will be testing the functionality of the windows. Users are requested to keep their desks and window sills tidy throughout this period.
- Two-three parking spots will periodically be unavailable when we use the aerial lift.

New Instrument Laboratory (I-Lab)
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be converting an area in Kjemibygningen into the new Instrument Laboratory (I-Lab), which will include a machine hall, a reception area and workshops. Additionally, we will carry out work on parts of the roof.

Adapting rooms for CREATE – Centre for Research on Equality in Education
What's happening?
The Estate Department is currently working to accommodate CREATE – Centre for Research on Equality in Education, which is a Centre of Excellence. The premises are located in the northwestern wing on the 3rd floor of Kristine Bonnevies hus, by Moltke Moes vei, and has a size of 1080 sq.m. We will be creating 60 new office spaces, both shared and individual offices, as well as multi-purpose rooms, meeting rooms and a communal area with a kitchen. Work started on Monday, 8th January 2024.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 8th January 2024
End date: Monday, 8th July 2024

Planned work on the 3rd and 4th floor
What's happening?
The Estate Department has been working on asbestos abatement and encapsulation in Kristine Bonnevies hus since April 2021. This has been necessary to ensure continued safe working conditions. Work on the 2nd floor, parts of the 3rd floor (zone 3.2 and 3.3) and I-Lab in the basement has finished.
Due to the overall scope of the project, and in accordance with public procurement regulations, we were required to obtain more procurement bids. Therefore, in consultation with the The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MN), we decided to pause the project.
We have now received bids for the remaining work on the 3rd and 4th floor. The costs to complete the project are still high. To ensure that the project is financially viable and complies with health and safety regulations, the Estate Department, together with MN and UiO's Occupational Health Service, will assess alternative solutions and consequences.
The goal is to resume asbestos abatement in late winter.

Lucy Smiths hus
Replacing bike racks

What's happening?
The Estate Department will be replacing the bike racks located along the facade of Lucy Smiths hus, between the entrance area and the footbridge. Today the parked bikes interfere with the external blinds. The new racks will position the bikes further out from the facade. The racks will also be better suited for various types of bikes, such as cargo bikes.
As of March 22nd, most of the work is completed. In week 13 and 14, the contractor will complete the project by replacing some of the stones and applying concrete joints. The application of the concrete joints is weather-dependent.
When is it happening?

Consequences
- The area will be cordoned off. The barrier will extend half a meter out into the walkway between Lucy Smiths hus and Kristian Ottosens hus. The passage to the entrance door will not be affected.
- The bike racks will be inaccessible while the work is in progress. The other racks outside Lucy Smiths hus and Kristian Ottosens hus can be used as usual.
- There will be some noise.
- There will be considerable noise when cutting stone.

Adapting rooms for Integreat
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be renovating the following offices on the 12th floor of Niels Henrik Abels hus to create larger team offices and meeting rooms: 1209, 1211, 1213, 1215, 1217, 1219, 1221, 1223, 1225, 1227, 1239 and 1231. We are doing this to accommodate Integreat, a Centre of Excellence. The renovation will include tearing down and putting up new walls and adjusting the ventilation and electrical installation.

Work on Abels terrasse
What's happening?
The Estate Department must replace the membrane and terrace tiles on parts of Abels terrasse due to water leaks from the terrace into the rooms below. Abels terrasse is the plateau that partially surrounds Niels Henrik Abels hus, starting from seminar room 119 and along Moltke Moes vei. We have previously worked on the south side, which is the side facing Georg Sverdrups hus. The interior work is also completed.
We will now continue to work on the eastern terrace, towards Moltke Moes vei. We will remove the terrace tiles, repair the damage, replace the membrane, and then lay new tiles. A temporary roof has already been set up over the work area.
When is it happening?

- The work area will be fenced off.
- The parking area under the terrace is closed while work is ongoing.

What's happening?
On Monday, 6th May, the Estate Department will be replacing the gate to the garage in Ole-Johan Dahls hus. The garage will be closed the whole day.

Closed lift
What's happening?
Lift 1 in Ole-Johan Dahls hus, located in room 1212 behind the cafeteria, has been unstable in recent years. It is also not suited to a high traffic office and education building. The Estate Department will therefore be replacing the lift completely.

Temporary fencing by the entrance

What's happening?
The Estate Department has put up fencing around the benches by the entrances of Robert Colletts hus in the Botanical Garden. The backrest of the benches function as railings, and children who climb on them risk falling into the moat below. The fences are a temporary solution. The area will be permanently secured, but the date has not been set. We will send out a new notification when further work is resumed.

Fountain sculpture "Velle" closed due to leak

What's happening?
The Estate Department will be investigating a leak in the ground underneath and around the fountain sculpture "Velle" by Jon Gundersen at Studenttorget. The leak was discovered during repairs of the drainage channels around the sculpture, but it does not originate from the water system connected to it. The source of the leak is unknown, and we need to investigate its origin and find a solution. To protect the newly polished stone, the fountain sculpture must remain covered up for the time being.
