Travelling with computer and mobile phone – Tips and advice

Access to UiO resources?

Need your UiO email or calendar?

Use the Outlook Web App available from mail.uio.no. Log in with your regular UiO username and password. See guide for webmail.

Do you need access to your office machine, programs on your office computer, home area or common areas?

Use Remote Desktop directly or via UiO Programkiosk. Before traveling, make sure your office computer is set up so that you can access it through Remote Desktop. Contact local IT staff for assistance.

Work on documents and files?

Save your files and documents on OneDrive, and they are easily accessible to you no matter where you are. Keep in mind that information you store on OneDrive must be categorized as Yellow or Green.

Travelling abroad

IT security is always important, but may be especially important when traveling abroad and more importantly if you are going to so-called high-risk countries.

WiFi

Visiting an education institution?

Eduroam, the same WiFi you use at the UiO, is also available at many other universities and connected institutions. Connect with your UiO user name and password. Remember to use "username@uio.no" as user name when you conenct.

WiFi from your mobile

Most mobile phones can share their Internet connection with other devices, such as a laptop computer. Check the instructions for your phone to find out how.
