First login to Mattermost

Mattermost is a messaging service that you can use directly in the browser or download as its own program.

You do not get a user account in Mattermost automatically. Access is usually given to students on a course or employees in a group, project or unit. Responsible for the course, leader etc. can order access using the online form on the Mattermost front page.

When you log into the desktop or mobile version of Mattermost for the first time, you must fill in two fields: Server Display Name (desktop only) and Server URL.

  1. In the field for Server Display Name, you can choose what you want to fill in. Only you will see it.
  2. In the field for Server URL, you must enter the URL of UiO's server: https://mattermost.uio.no.

  3. Click Add.
  4. Log in with your UiO username and password.
