Student

Here you can find what rules apply if you want to record a lecture, a course or a seminar at UiO.

What do I have to do before I start the recording?

Am I allowed?

Yes, you are allowed, but certain rules apply:

If the recording is only to be used in private, you still have to ask the lecturer, seminar leader etc. if you can record. If he or she says no, you cannot record anything.

If you are going to publish or share the recording, you have to get written consent from all the participants, including the lecturer. You also have to make sure that everybody has been informed about their rights. An information sheet has been made for this purpose.

Privacy

Because of privacy issues you have to make sure the device recording the session is directed toward the lecturer, not the auditorium/work space.

What do I do when I’m done recording?

Recordings made for personal use is not to be distributed, published or shared. If you want to distribute, publish or share recordings you have previously made, you have to get written consent from all the participants who were present during the recording.

I want to withdraw my consent. What do I do?

You can withdraw your consent at any time. You do not need to give a reason for the withdrawal. A withdraw of consent has to be done in writing and sent to the responsible organizational unit.
