Exploring metadata

The metadata manager scans through your data, collecting all available metadata it can find. This is available as a spreadsheet in the webportal.

Click on Manage metadata and select Datasets.

all metadata shown in a spreadsheetBy default all tags and all files in the scanned folder are shown. If you wish to change the metadata standard, you can do this by selecting the standard you want from the dropdown menu under Choose tag standard. If you wish to work with a predefined dataset, you can select this from the dropdown menu under Choose dataset.

You can filter files based on conditions for any column. Click on the top, blue line in any column, and type out a filtering word.

filtering metadataYou can also arrange data in any column based on content. By clicking the small arrows on the left of the column name you can have the rows arranged in ascending or descending order.

If you wish to filter out individual files, you can do so also by clicking the small x on the left hand side of the spreadsheet. If you wish to save this subset of files as a dataset, you can do so by clicking on Save as new dataset, and give this dataset a name. That way you can return to this particular collection of files later, by selecting it from the dropdown menu under Choose dataset. This will also enable you to publish metadata about this collection later.

If you wish to enrich metadata for a file, you can do so by writing the additional information into the column where the information is missing. Remember to click on Save changed values to keep the information.

You can also download the entire spreadsheet of metadata, by clicking on Export metadata.
