What does your job consist of?

I am working on building an investment company focusing on crypto currency and open block chains. In this context, I do everything from fundamental analysis of various crypto currencies to recruitment.

Our goal is to build a Nordic financial group based on crypto-currency trading and the utilization of open block chains.

At Kryptografen I work on spreading knowledge about crypto currencies and open block chains through articles, podcasts and reports. The goal is to contribute to more understanding of this field and to cover more than just price movement.

What do you like most about your job?

The most exciting thing about my job is turning my interests and knowledge into decisions and actions.

How do you make use of your education in your job?

I use the knowledge I acquired through studying economics every day, but mainly through my Master's thesis on Bitcoin. I really entered the crypto currency world though the work on my thesis.

I use analysis methods and insights from acquired from my studies daily. This can be anything from heavy statistical analyses to macroeconomic assessments and game-theoretical considerations.

The study programme taught me much more than just the syllabus. I learned how to learn and it gave me a foundation I can build on when seeking new knowledge.

In addition, the discussions I have had with my friends are invaluable.

How is a typical day at work?

There is no typical day at work. One day I can be discussing algorithms with one of our developers. Another day I am negotiating with a company in London, or being a speaker at a workshop for a research project at UiO.

How did you get the job?

I was headhunted.

What are your previous jobs?

I have worked as a senior economist at the consulting company Menon Economics, where I really enjoyed working.

What is your advice for students who want your type of job?

Follow your interests and dare to make yourself visible. Many positions and opportunities are not advertised, and they will not reach you if you do not seek them out yourself.

Give talks, write chronicles, or in other ways show the outside world your strengths and what excites you.
