Why do you study Economics?

You learn a specific way of thinking to analyse and maybe solve today’s challenges in society. I often feel that I train to handle a tool kit, which I can use in quite different questions and situations. This makes Economics a diverse study field and offers many great options regarding where I can work and what I can do in the future.

Why did you apply for the master's programme in Economics?

I lived in Scandinavia before and really enjoyed the collegial working environment with its flat hierarchy.

After my German bachelor in Development Economics, I wished to come back. I looked for a two-year programme in English without high tuition fees.

The Department of Economics offers a specialization in Environmental-, Resource- and Development Economics, which matched my interests and study focus exactly.

What is the best thing about being an international master student at the University of Oslo?

The truly bilingual study environment! While all lectures are in English, I can improve my Norwegian with classmates outside the lecture halls.

Further, UiOs student service takes great care of international students. They help with the registration in Norway and guarantee student housing upon arrival. This made my moving process very smooth and made it easier to settle in to a new place.
