Worked with student recruitment before coming to UiO

Enzo’s background is from student recruitment and student activism and because of this; he wanted to become an expert in the higher education sector.

- I was living in the UK when I decided to apply for the Master's in Higher Education at UiO. Even though I have recently switched careers, I loved working with higher education, says Enzo.

His official title is DHIS2 implementer and his employer is the IT consultancy Devotta AS. He works with implementing support packages for Malaria and HIV in developing countries, as well as the Norwegian version of the global COVID implementation. Before working at Devotta he was an International Adviser at OsloMet for almost five years.

- I love having to juggle the requirements from the different sides and helping come up with a useful product that benefits the global community, as well as learning about different public health issues and how to tackle them. Moreover, before COVID the travel opportunities were a definitive plus.

In addition to this, Enzo also works freelance giving presentations about cultural differences, culture shock and internationalisation.

Develops your critical thinking

Enzo says that a master's degree helps us develop our critical thinking and allows us to tackle complex multidimensional issues more easily. Both of these are essential tools that he uses in his job every day.

- In my current job, the degree from UiO is going to be especially useful moving forward. The company I work for are expanding into the area of education, and my specific knowledge of that sector is definitely going to be beneficial.

Make sure it is right for you

When deciding to apply for a programme, especially abroad, it is important to make sure that it is right for you. After making the decision to apply, Enzo's tip is to get all the practicalities out of the way before you start so that you can focus on your studies. It is also important to remember that though education is free, Norway can be an expensive country and it is therefore important to budget accordingly.

After moving to Norway and completing his degree, Enzo has a lot of good memories from his years at UiO.

- My classmates were total stars! I learned a lot from them and their varied backgrounds. I feel like I made many friends through getting involved with student life and events, so I definitely recommend doing that, Enzo tells us.
