Career opportunities

What characterizes a mathematician is a specially developed ability for analytical thinking and finding a structured approach to complicated problems. These are general features that provide a variety of professional opportunities.

Mathematicians are today in demand and get a job within finance and insurance and banking, telecommunications, information technology, engineering and public administration. In addition, there are job opportunities within teaching at all stages, and research (see below). Another point is that mathematicians experience learning has a great ability to get into new fields, and in a society characterized by constant change, this is an important feature.

After completing the master's degree, you can apply to move on to a PhD degree in mathematics. The most common funding methods are a grant from the university or from the Research Council, but there are also national and international projects that award grants.
