IBS4010 – Introduction to information resources in Ibsen studies

Schedule, syllabus and examination date

Course content

Some information resources are unique to Ibsen research (The International Ibsen Bibliography, The Ibsen Concordance, Ibsen’s manuscripts etc.), and Ibsen scholars should know about them and be able to use them.

The course gives a survey of these and other important digital and printed resources in Ibsen research, and instruction in the use of them. The course also introduces some other useful databases and reference works in the field of literary study.

Learning outcome

The students are expected to achieve a working knowledge of relevant resources in the study of Ibsen’s life and works and to obtain the practical skills of information retrieval. They are also expected to gain some insight into the critical evaluation of information e.g. on the Internet, and to learn to compile a bibliography. Introduction to Endnote.
