FIL4011 – Special Topics in Philosophy II

Course content

FIL4011 is a code used when seminars are offered that are not a part of our regular courses. Content and form of teaching may vary from one semester to another.

Learning outcome

The aim is to give students an in depth knowledge of a specific topic within within different philosophical fields. Through the writing of an essay, students will develop the ability to express themselves in academic forms.

Admission

Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

Students enrolled in other Master's Degree Programmes can, on application, be admitted to the course if this is cleared by their own study programme.

Teaching

Compulsory tuition activities:

  • one oral presentation

More information regarding when each student shall present will be published in Canvas.

In order for you to qualify for the final examination, all compulsory tuition activities must be approved (accepted as satisfactory) by the teacher.
 

Examination

A semester essay of approximately10 pages à 2300 characters, excl. bibliography.

The essay is to be submitted in Canvas within the deadline published on the semester pages.

All compolsury tuition activities must be approved in order to be able to hand in the examination essay.

Use of sources and citation

You should familiarize yourself with the rules that apply to the use of sources and citations. If you violate the rules, you may be suspected of cheating/attempted cheating.

Grading scale

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
