Instructions for seminars in REL4140 Religion and War, 2-6 March 2015

I strongly encourage everybody to attend the seminars.

Preparations

Before the seminar on Monday 2 March, you must do two things. Firstly, you must work with the draft of your semester assigment and bring it up to a standard that can be read by a fellow student. This does not mean that you need to have a long text with fluent prose yet, but you need to have thought about the formulation of the question(s) you want to answer in your paper. You are also expected to have thought through the structure and organization of the paper. Remember that your completed draft is due on Friday 13 March. You should bring a printout of the draft to the first seminar on Monday 2 March. In class on Monday, you will team up with another student and exchange the printouts of your draft papers. Pairs of students will read each others’ drafts and make prepared comments on them in class later in the week.

Secondly, you must identify at least two texts/authors from the reading list that you want to use in your assignment. You must be prepared to speak for a few minutes in class about the texts and about why they will be relevant to your paper.

Do bring the books on the reading list to the seminars!

Let me also remind you that we will watch the film The Fog of War on Wednesday afternoon at 16.15 in seminar room 7 in PAM. There will be free pizza! After the film, all are invited to go out for a coffee or a beer together.

Looking forward to seeing you on Monday,

Torkel Brekke
