Course content

Students will be familiar with the main features of Old Irish grammar.

Learning outcome

When the students have completed this course, they will have acquired sufficient grammatical knowledge to be able to read simple texts.

It is recommended that students have previously studied another Celtic language or a language with a case system (for example, Old Norse or German).

Teaching

The teaching is given in 14 double seminars, 28 hours in all.

A qualifying assignment?has to be approved before the student may take the final exam.

Approved obligatory assignments are valid the next two times the course is given.

Examination

The final examination will be a 4-hour written examination.

The written examination is conducted in the digital examination system Inspera. You will need to familiarize yourself with the digital examination arrangements in Inspera.

Examination support material

No examination support material is allowed.

Language of examination

You may write your examination paper in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.

Grading scale

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F?is a fail. Read more about?the grading system.
