More information about the mandatory assignment:

The paper should be 6-700 words with line spacing at 1.5 and size of font about 12pt.

Most importantly, you need to demonstrate an interest in or an understanding of topics covered in the course. As for how this paper should be written, you should first and foremost show that you are able to write within the boundaries of the academic genre, meaning that you discuss the topic, using secondary literature in a good way etc. At the end of the paper, you should add a list of references as you normally would in an academic paper. These could include information from the lecture series, from the assigned reading for the course, from other texts that you have found in the library or on the internet, etc.

Possible topics for the assignment could be (Please note that these are merely suggestions to give you an idea, but as you will see, there are so many possibilities.):
