Course content
The course offers varying specialized studies of a selection of French language literature by at least two authors who represent a particular genre. The texts are picked from at least two centuries.

Learning outcome
When you have completed the course, you can:
- account for the most important developments within a genre in French literature;
- analyze works of literature within this genre;
- apply theoretical terms developed for the study of this genre;
- place these literary works in a historical literary context

Teaching
Teaching consists of 2 seminar hours a week, for 14 weeks.
The course has an obligatory assignment: within a specified date, students must submit an obligatory paper of 4 pages (a page consists of 2300 characters not including spaces) written in French. The obligatory assignment has to be approved by the teacher in order for the student to sit the exam.
Access to teaching
A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.
Examination
The final grade for the course is set on the basis of a three-day take-home exam. The exam has to be written in French and consist of 5 pages of 2300 characters each (spaces not included).

Use of sources and citation
You should familiarize yourself with the rules that apply to the use of sources and citations. If you violate the rules, you may be suspected of cheating/attempted cheating.

Since this is a course with a new topic every year, the obligatory assignment must be done again to resit the exam.
