Welcome to Media, War and Journalism!

In this course you will explore the role of media in conflict, from propaganda during the World Wars to social media in the phenomenon of radicalization and the (alleged) impact of the Russian “troll army”. We will be asking ourselves questions like: Are the Internet and social media “helping” terrorists? Do global, live and instantaneous media really enable us to understand the reality of war? Are the politicians “using” the media to “lie” to us about conflicts? Why are we witnessing a robotization of warfare?

We will be applying what we learn to current affairs, so this course will help you better understand the world we live in and where developments in communication technology and political conflict are going.

See you in 2017!
