Course content
The course is a specialization in musicology where the thematic content is linked to current musicological research. The content will vary from semester to semester and will provide an opportunity for in-depth study within ongoing research within the department.
This course is cancelled for the autumn 2023 semester.
Learning outcome
Students will:?

Learn how to critically evaluate research articles, develop research questions, and design experimental paradigms?

Learn how to collect and analyse data, and disseminate results?

Work collaboratively in groups to conduct a small research project on a topic of their choice?
Admission to the course
Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.
Students enrolled in other Master`s Degree Programmes can, on application, be admitted to the course if this is cleared by their own study programme.

The compulsory activities are only valid within the current semester. All compulsory activities must be approved in order to sit for the exam. Students are responsible to keep track of registered absences and check that everything has been approved.

Examination
- Term paper (10 pages excluding bibliography, 1.5 line spacing, each containing approx. 2.300 characters, spaces not included, consistent reference style). The title and topic of the term paper must be approved by the course tutor.
You must fulfill the requirement of the compulsory activities in order to qualify for taking the exam.

Language of examination
The examination text is given in English, and you submit your response in English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
