Teaching

The course will, for the most part, emphasize heart and blood circulation but it will also include endocrinology (thyroid illnesses, diabetes type I and II as well as hormones) and kidney failure. The course is primarily focused on the proper use of medication (including physiology, pathophysiology and etiology) with the above mentioned organ systems. The various subject areas are integrated throughout the course. The teaching of endocrinology, and heart and circulation involve two PBL assignments each, four all together. The PBL topics will also integrate the various subject areas. The rest of the course will be taught in smaller groups and with the objective of deepening the students understanding of the PBL topics. Kidney failure will be taught through lectures and a clinical presenation. For each week of the course there is a detailed list of learning objectives which have been divided into either learning objectives, skill objectives or educational objectives.

In order to be eligible for the final exam the student must participate in all compulsory parts of the course (four PBL-topics, three laboratory assignments and the clinical presentation).

Inactivity and / or excessive absences in compulsory education means that the student does not receive final assessment / examination.

As the teaching involves laboratory and/or field work, you should consider taking out a separate travel and personal risk insurance. Read about your insurance cover as a student.
