Course content

The subject comprises natural products of importance in medicine and pharmacy, the organisms in which they are produced, and their biosynthesis. Emphasis is laid on the chemical/-biochemical properties of the natural products, their isolation, analysis, biological activity and use.

Learning outcome

The students should acquire knowledge about medical natural products, with emphasis on their chemical properties, biological activity and use.

Formal prerequisite knowledge

KJ 101/ KJ 120, KJB 201, PKA 246, PBF 251.

Teaching

1 semester, Lectures: A total of 45 hours, Study groups: A total of 11 hours, Labwork: A total of 140 hours (mandatory).

Examination

Written exam (6 hours)
