PGG361 – Drug formulation, Drug targeting

Course content

The topics of this course is based upon the previous knowledge of Pharmaceutics I og II. The subjects is emphasizing the possibilities of drug targeting by modern formulation techniques. After the basic introduction to the biological limitations and barriers to drug transport across the membranes, the importance of new excipients and new drug forms are highlighted. A selected number of biological barriers and how to overcome these absorption barriers and how to improve bioavailability by new formulation of drugs produced by biotechnology is part of this course. Colloid formulations are discussed.
