Hi,

There were very few participants on Zoom last Thursday. While a bit discouraging, this is fine for UiO staff, but please connect for Thursday's guest lecture. You'll get the chance to ask questions and talk to two experienced data scientists from industry. Don't let this opportunity pass, since with the low turnout from last Thursday, it will be hard to convince external speakers next time around.

Regards,

Dirk

Due to the corona update, we decided to have all sessions online from now on.

On November 5th, there will be a guest lecture by Equinor Data Scientists Margaux Ledieu and Justin Fackrell, who will talk about deep learning for seismic data and machine learning assurance, respectively. You will be able to get some insight in the daily work of a data scientist and can ask some questions about career paths in industry.

Unfortunately, the 22nd session will be a pre-recorded lecture. The recording can be found here. The notebook and the data are on GitHub.

The following Thursday session (29th of Oct) will again be in-person and on Zoom.

The assignments are on Canvas. The first one is due Wednesday 2 September, and should take you 30 minutes or so.

The second one is a group assignment, due Wednesday 11. For this one, you should do a peer-review, and the peer-review is part of the point of the process.
