IN1050 – Introduction to Design, Use, Interaction

Course content

The course provides an introduction to the design, use, and interaction, where the focus is on interaction and interplay between people and digital technology. The course deals with research into the use of technology. Concepts and methods for design, prototyping and evaluation are introduced.

Learning outcome

After finishing IN1050, you?ll:

  • have knowledge of key concepts and methods in design, use and interaction with digital technology
  • know about different types of interfaces and interactions
  • be able to conduct user surveys and identify needs
  • be able to evaluate digital technology in relation to the needs of the users
  • be able to develop different types of prototypes of digital technology

Special admission requirements

In addition to fulfilling the Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:

  • Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)

The special admission requirements may also be covered by equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies. Read more about special admission requirements (in Norwegian).

Overlapping courses

Teaching

2 hours of lectures, 2 hours of group exercises and 2 hours of plenary exercises each week.

The submission of mandatory assignments is required. Read more about requirements for submission of assignments, group work and legal cooperation under guidelines for mandatory tasks.

Attendance of the first lecture is compulsory.

Examination

4 hours written digital exam. Mandatory assignments must be approved to be allowed to take the exam.

It will also be counted as one of?your three?attempts to sit the exam for this course, if you sit the exam for one of the following courses: INF1500 – Introduksjon til design, bruk, interaksjon (continued)

No examination support material is allowed.

Language of examination

You may write your examination paper in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.

Grading scale

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F?is a fail. Read more about?the grading system.
