Dear all,

It was a great pleasure to meet you in class today! I look forward to discussing many topics from our ICT4D field with you in the weeks to come!

A memorandum on the dates and functioning of the take-home exam. The exam consists of four open-ended questions, of which you will need to answer two if you are a Master's student, and three if you are a PhD candidate. I will release the home exam on 24 November and the latest submission date is 13 December.

Past exam questions are available on the course page if you wish to familiarise with the exam format. Please do drop me an email at silvima@ifi.uio.no, or come see me in office (Nemko building, room HBU036), if you have any questions.

Look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

All the best,

Silvia

Hello! :-)

A warm welcome to IN5390, "ICT for Development: Building A Better World?" In this course we will explore the field of Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D), in a journey guided by the question on what it takes to make a better world with ICTs. In our journey we will explore the limits and possibilities of ICTs for development, touching on themes as diverse as digital platforms, ICT use by refugees and internally displaced persons, global health, data justice and decolonial understandings of ICT4D.

The course is assessed with a take-home exam to be submitted in December 2022. Essential readings are available in the course schedule, which offers also an overview of the themes of the course.

For any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at silvima@ifi.uio.no.

I look forward to meeting you in the fall!

All the best,

Silvia
