Course content

The course will give an introduction to design of artefacts particularly IT-systems based on gender perspectives. The course focus on design both as a process and product, and also how gender shapes and is shaped. The readings and lecturers about design with the use of feminist analysis are the starting point for discussions and the essay.

Learning outcome

The aim is to give students in Informatics and/or KFL an introduction of design theories and how feminist analysis can contribute in critical analysis of design as a process and product. The course point out the importance to use readings from a variety of disciplines.

Prerequisites

Recommended previous knowledge

Basic knowledge in Informatics and/or Gender, feminism and gender equality.

Overlapping courses

10 credits overlap with INF3250 – Design and Gender (discontinued)

Replaces MNKJ?100: Gender and natural sciences/technology.

Lectures, discussions of readings, explorations of design products, essay

Examination

Individual essay and oral examination.

Language of examination

You may submit your response in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English. If you would prefer to have the exam text in English, you may apply to the course administrators.

Withdrawal from an examination

It is possible to take the exam up to 3 times. If you withdraw from the exam after the deadline or during the exam, this will be counted as an examination attempt.
