Schedule, syllabus and examination date

Course content

Advanced programme in modern microelectronics (CMOS). The course is a combination of practical lab measurements and fundamental design and analysis of analog CMOS. Low power techniques and fundamental CMOS amplifier design and analysis are emphasized. Continuous time circuits like analog filters in a mixed-mode environment are treated. Interface problems for real-time analog control and measurements are treated.

Learning outcome

he goal is to give students insight and develop skills in modern analog microelectronics in a mixed-mode environment. The ability to design and test interface circuits for microsystems and low-power microelectronics for demanding mixed-mode applications like biomedical microelectronics.

Admission

Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

If you are not already enrolled as a student at UiO, please see our information about admission requirements and procedures.

Prerequisites

Formal prerequisite knowledge

In addition to fulfilling the Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:

  • Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)

The special admission requirements may also be covered by equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies. Read more about special admission requirements (in Norwegian).

Recommended previous knowledge

INF3400 – Digital nanoelektronikk (discontinued) / INF4400 – Digital mikroelektronikk (discontinued) and FYS1210 – Elementary Electronics with Project Work or similar background.

Teaching

The course is a one term course with up to 4 lectures each week. Three mandatory lab exercises are required. These exercises are a mix of theory, simulations and measurements and are carried out by a group of maximum 2 students. The mandatory labs must be delivered and passed within the scheduled deadline. The first lab must be passed. Labs from earlier courses are not accepted.

Examination

The second and third lab must also be submitted before the announced deadline. Both second and third labs are graded and are counting 20% each of the final grade. The final exam may be oral or written and is counting 60%.Graded marks (A-F).

Resit an examination

This subject does not offer new examination in the beginning of the subsequent term for candidates who withdraw during an ordinary examination or fail an ordinary examination. For general information about new examination, see /studier/admin/eksamen/sykdom-utsatt/mn/index.html and http://www.matnat.uio.no/english/studies/examination/repeat.html

Other

Note that the first lecture is compulsory.

Course evaluation

Feedback from our students is an essential to us in our efforts to ensure and further improve the high quality of our programmes and courses. As a student at the University of Oslo you will therefore be asked to participate in various types of evaluation of our courses, facilities and services. All study programmes and courses are subject to continuous evaluation. At regular intervals we also ask students enrolled in a particular programme or course to participate in a more comprehensive, in-depth evaluation of their programme or course. The next evaluation of this course will be carried out during the autumn term of 2005.
