INF5060 – Multimedia Networking using Network Processor Cards

Course content

The course gives an overview of network processor cards including architectures and how such devices can be used in a system. Additionally, the course looks on how to program Intel IXP network processors and how to use these in a distributed multimedia system. An important part of the course is a lab-assignment where the students should make a program for the Intel IXP network processor.

Learning outcome

The students should get knowledge in network processor architectures and practical experience in development of programs on the Intel IXP network processor.

Formal prerequisite knowledge

2 hours lectures/lab per week

Lab-project. Graded Pass/Not pass.

Note that the first lecture is compulsory.
